In the story of God parting the Red Sea, the Egyptians were fully outfitted with chariots and horses when they chased the Hebrews. Escape seemed impossible for the Jewish people as the Red Sea blocked their getaway. But then God showed up!This is an account that speaks very clearly that chariots and horses are no match for God’s power.
Over the past couple of years we have seen unrighteous policies pass through the House of Commons in Ottawa and the different provincial legislatures. Covid was difficult for many, especially our youth. These issues can become very heavy if we allow them to weigh us down.
We shouldn’t come under these things.
“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. ”
Psalm 20:7
Let us put our trust in the Name of the Lord. We can and should pray into the anxious situations around us but always with the knowledge that God is bigger. Even though at times it may seem that our fears are chasing us and we are blocked by a Red Sea, we can be confident that He will part the sea so we can traverse to the other side and drown those fears in His love.
- Pray for the body of Christ that out of his glorious riches He may strengthen us
with power through His Spirit in our inner being, so that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith. Pray that we, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that we may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3: 16-19)
- Pray that we would be a people with eyes to see from His perspective. May we see our parliamentarians the way God sees them. May we see them with the heart of God’s love. From this line of sight, may our prayers reflect in faith and hope and trust in God.
