We have a new Prime Minister, as expected. Our response must be prayer and intercession. We didn’t pray for Prime Minister Trudeau early on—let’s not repeat that mistake. From the start, we must cover this new leader in prayer
Welcoming the King of Glory: A Message from Chris Byberg
Greetings from Ottawa!
I’m Chris Byberg, Director of the National House of Prayer. Recently, I returned from an incredible time of ministry in Victoria, where we gathered with over 50 pastors and leaders. We witnessed God moving powerfully in meetings at Temple Yeshua, David’s House of Prayer, and New Life Church. There’s no doubt—God is stirring hearts across our nation, and we’re privileged to be part of it!
Staying in a Posture of Prayer
As many of you know, we’re in a time of transition. With a new Prime Minister stepping in—Mark Carney (designate as of this message)—I want to remind us of the posture we’ve taken before: praying for our leaders as if they were our own sons. We prayed faithfully for Prime Minister Trudeau, and we will do the same for Prime Minister Carney.
This is not a time to shrink back or fall into fear. Let’s not take on the “Chicken Little” mindset—believing the sky is falling—but instead, keep our eyes on the Father and listen to His voice.
Psalm 24: Our Foundation for This Season
Psalm 24 has been a guiding word for us:
“The Earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.”
This truth applies to Canada and beyond. As we intercede, we’re called to have clean hands, pure hearts, and a posture of humility. And we declare:
“Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of Glory may come in!”
Gateway Cities: Places of Influence and Intercession
Since July and August, we’ve been focusing prayer on Gateway Cities—strategic places that hold influence in government, commerce, and culture.
- Ottawa governs our nation.
- Toronto governs Ontario.
- Calgary and others carry commerce and industry.
These cities are converging points for leaders and churches. Now more than ever, we are seeing unprecedented unity and collaboration. If you live in or are connected to one of these cities, you play a vital role in welcoming the King of Glory and standing in the gap.
An Encouragement for What’s Ahead
I believe challenging times may come, especially in relation to standing with Israel. We need to be vigilant, steadfast in prayer, and prepared as May and June approach.
But be encouraged! You have already been faithful. Many of you have been engaged in intercession over Canada’s leadership and future.
Now is the time to continue standing on the wall, praying with authority and hope.
Every Day Is a National Day of Prayer
As I often say, every day is the National Day of Prayer. Let’s keep our hearts aligned with Heaven, welcoming the King of Glory into our cities, our nation, and our lives.
Blessings,
Chris Byberg
