OCTOBER PRAYER POINTS

from the

National House of Prayer

“The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;
he frustrates the plans of the peoples. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations.”
– Psalm 33:10, 11

FEAR GOD

The best counsel which could be given to those who are serving Canada in public office is found in an inscription above one of the doors in the Official Opposition board room in the Centre Block of Parliament.

It reads:

“FEAR GOD”

 Pray for your government

  • Pray that a reverence for God pervades the atmosphere on Parliament Hill, impacting all those who walk those halls.

Pray for the church

  • Pray that the church would be reignited with a healthy fear of God which drives us to our knees in dependence on Him and draws us to his presence in humility and fresh passion.

Pray for NHOP

  • Pray for increased anointing upon our lives, that the tangible presence of God would be felt by others as we walk the halls of Parliament and speak with Parliamentarians and staff.

PARLIAMENTARIANS GATHER FOR PRAYER

Every Wednesday morning when Parliament is in session, a group of MPs and Senators from across party lines gather together on Parliament Hill to pray.

They meet in Room 602 in Centre Block (pictured to the right) where their politics are checked at the door and nothing shared leaves the room.

Pray for our parliamentarians

  • Pray that this time would be filled with the tangible presence of God, impacting and refreshing those who gather.
  • Pray that testimonies of true fellowship and answered prayer during these times would draw many more to participate.

REMEMBERING DAVID MAINSE
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments! His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.
– Psalm 112:1, 2

Many of us have been touched by the recent passing of David Mainse, the founder of 100 Hundred Huntley Street and Crossroads ministry.

There have been so many ministries that have been highly influenced by the ministry of David and Norma Jean; for sure a real spiritual father has left us but not without the values and the tremendous example of one who was ‘sold out’ for Jesus. David personally encouraged Fran and I in the national call that we carry and took the time to personally stand with us in prayer.

We were very blessed to hear his sons and daughters share in the eulogy of their father. Ron touched us all when he spoke of his father’s love for others, both in front of the cameras and behind the cameras. He mentioned one day quietly going downstairs at 6 a.m. on his way to a basketball practice, when he heard weeping and there was his dad, on his knees with hundreds of prayer requests, praying for each one. He really cared. Ron then shared a video he had recorded on his phone of his parents singing the song “Others” this past Father’s Day. Yes, reminding us all, that’s what this is all about, “Others”.

MORE PRAYER COVER

As we cover our nation and government in prayer, following are some additional important things to remember in prayer as well:

Shift Canada 150

Shift Canada 150 a national gathering for intense prayer, high praise and worship. It is the converging of several key elements that will be used to promote revival in the church, transformation of society and a turn to righteousness in our nation. For more information click here.

  • Pray for a time of significant impact and supernatural shift in the nation.
  • Pray for renewal in the church leading to revival.
  • Pray for a transformation in society in Canada.

New NDP Leader

The NDP have chosen a new leader: Jagmeet Singh, a Sikh lawyer from Ontario. Mr. Singh will lead the NDP into the next election and will have significant influence over policy development, their election platform, and the success of the party.

  • Pray that he would lead wisely, in a way that strengthens the nation of Canada.
  • Pray that he would lead respectfully, and that we will see a continued shift away from personal attacks and towards more statesman-like leadership.
The Legalization of Marijuana

The government intends to legalize marijuana for recreational use by July 1, 2018.  The House of Commons Standing Committee on Health, which just finished its study on this Bill (Bill C-45) heard from 108 witnesses and received 115 briefs during its hearings.

Many very credible voices urged the committee to slow down in order to prevent a disastrous situation after legalization. Others urged the committee to not proceed with legalization, as legalization will result in normalization, which will increase youth usage.

  • Pray for voices to arise from each political party who will speak out against this legislative agenda.
  • Pray for the Official Opposition, which is united against this Bill, to have godly wisdom and clarity as they press against it.

LEGISLATIVE OUTLOOK

The laws of a nation play a significant role in determining what the culture looks like and what kind of behaviour is normalized. There are a number of laws which are working their way through the process that need to be covered in prayer (you can click on the links below to get more information on these Bills and see what stage they are currently at in the legislative process):
