Rob Parker led a team of intercessors who prayer-walked from Calgary to Ottawa in the Spring of 2000. This initiative was called Link Canada and the purpose was to elevate prayer for our nation and to call the Church to repentance that God might bring His healing to our land.
“September 11th, 2001 brought a sense of urgency to this vision.” says Rob. “After seeing 100,000 Canadians gather on Parliament Hill in a show of support for our neighbors south of us, the prayers offered that day were not allowed to include the name of ‘God’ or ‘His Son, Jesus Christ’.”
“Also, I became aware that chaplains in our Armed Forces were restricted from using ‘God’ or ‘Jesus’ in any of their public addresses. This caused me to cry out to God that Canada had become a ‘Godless Nation’ and asked Him to intervene.”
“The next morning God directed me to 1 Timothy 2:1-3:
I urge, then, first of all. that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone: for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour.”
“In contrast , Canada was becoming godless.”
“The key to restore godliness in our land is to pray for all those in authority, and so we began ‘walking out’ the process of establishing a Prayer House for our nation.”
